2001 Warmblood x Thoroughbred gelding. Just a shade under 17hh.
Nicky is a character of a horse who is looking for his ideal partner. He is schooling some elementary movements, although is not established at this level. Although it has been a while since he was last competed, when he was regularly competing at HRCAV level 4 and 3 dressage he never came home without a ribbon. He gets out on the roads on a semi regular basis, and travels to clinics and lessons no issue. He is an absolute dream of a horse to ride when his mind is on the job - soft, responsive, and quick to learn. He has lovely correct (although not extravagant) paces, with the big winner being his nice big canter.
It should be said however, that Nicky has something of an anxious personality, and it can sometimes take some effort to keep his mind on the job. He is essentially a quiet horse - the big things don't bother him. Trucks, cars, excavators etc have never been a problem. He worries more about little things, like birds for example! When he gets a fright he can shy, but always gets over it quickly and never carries on long enough to unseat the rider.
He leads well, float loads well when shown leadership by the handler, and is easy for the dentist. He can get a little impatient for the farrier, but is never a big drama. Out on the road he needs the rider to be positive and firm but fair, and then he is fine. He is a little looky, but if the rider insists on his focus and softness he really tries his best to stick with you.
This horse has a huge personality. He is cheeky and in your face, but can be something of a Jekyll and Hyde. His anxiety means he can sometimes be a little cranky on the ground, so he will need somebody who is experienced and firm, but empathetic. If you get the balance right you will have an awesome horse on your hands.
Nicky is offered for sale to only the best of homes. I am selling him because I don't think we are a perfect match, and I can't offer him the best deal in life from a mental perspective. I am hoping to find somebody who really connects with him, and if I can't he will be staying with me.
